Idle (hunting)
My 1.8T is hunting a little on idle, revs go up and down between 600 & 800 RPM, I have changed plugs and the IMG any ideas?
Could it be the idle sensor ? Good news is the refurbed Turbo has sorted the smoke Thanks Keith

The engine adaptations need to be reset, followed by the IACV being setup correctly on T4 Keith

I had similar symptoms on my 1.8T and that was solved by changing the idle air valve, nothing done with computers, did the five throttle pedal pushes and it's been fine since.

Not long after getting the 1.8T I went down to Brian's. He discovered the stepper motor had never been adjusted, adjuster screw still had the sealing cap on it! He'd never seen one so far out of spec. The stepper motor adjusts the idle speed depending on any load on the engine, air con, lights etc.
