Default Lost Keys Help Please

Need some advice please.
Lost my only key.
I was vacuuming the car and given the interior a thorough clean then when i came to lock it, gone!
Have looked everywhere for it. Really frustrating! Now I've had to remove the battery and block the car in cos I can't lock it and there's a small chance some ne'r-do-well has walked past and picked it out while I was exercising my ocd under the seats! !

It only unlocks manually. The remote has never worked.

My car is a diesel auto.
I have a spares manual diesel with everything working. The remote etc.

Can I swap the lot in? Or is my suspicion that a manual set would be different from auto correct?

If I can't just swap the lot in could somebody please advise where I go from here.

Thank you!!

Yeah I've done that.
Several times!
It had quite a big leather fob too.

I even cut a large bush down in the dark last night just in case it was in there.

It's totally bonkers. And just messing with my head. After dropping a key down a drain 30 odd years ago (long story) I'm so careful with my keys... so I thought!!

Borrow a metal detector for checking outside the car.

Did you use it to open the boot? If so, any possibility you inadvertently dropped it in there?

Get someone else to check inside the car. You're too close to it and too frustrated/panicky now to be as methodical as you'll need to be.

Do you have a 3-6 year old? I had a little divil who swiped more keys than I care to remember back in the day, and hid them in all sorts of places...

Manual set won’t work mate, however if you have a spare key mate things can be done to sort this out.

No spare key.

4 members of my family have checked and rechecked. Literally turned it upside down.
I've even emptied the wheelie bins and sifted through the rubbish just in case!

So what do I do now? Look for an auto ecu and lock set?

Hi Gary.
Have you checked any and all pockets in the clothes you had on, in the door card glove compartment, down the side of the seats, under the seats, I know you may have done this already but try and trace your movements on the day, where do you usually put the keys when you are cleaning it out.

You could always swap the door lock(s) and ignition barrel from your donor car, then post your EWS to someone who has the ability to programme a replacement key transponder

Big Russ, Jules, or CB750Chris can sort this out among others
