Question R75/2005 - Unlocked by others

Hi,

I seek a bit of advice on the remote locking system.

Twice, I've approached my car in the morning with the drivers door already unlocked.
Once, after work with all doors unlocked.
...and no - it wasn't me...
The only thing I can think of, is other peoples remotes unlocking my locks while unlocking their own cars :/

Any way to re-program the RF, other means of changing or adjusting something electronically - or is the only way to pay up to BMW for an entirely new locking system?

I've seen the ebay thing for almost pennies, but 1) is it really trustworthy? , and 2) I like the idea of the car not being able to even start without the original key being present (and that's in the current remote unlock system, isn't it?).

Anyone heard of this before? Any suggestions on this?
(the inventer might suggest another remote to unlock the current remote... )

Thank you

I have returned to mine more than once to find it unlocked already, but established that due to the horn warning and me not paying attention, something was just open, i.e. the bonnet or tailgate catch not seating properly, so it did not in fact lock.

I hope you are enjoying the Club and forum?

Your best bet is to drop Marianbrian a private message. If he does not know, no one does.

You need a replacement BCU (Body control unit) This will have to be coded to the car via T4.

As previously said, get in touch with Brian, he will advise the best way forward.

I sometimes find this is down to having the key in a trouser pocket, and the unlock button being inadvertently pressed.

We all do this from time to time, or perhaps it's just me

Happens to mine occasionally, and I think twice in 8 years I’ve found the rear n/s window open (I never have anybody in the back of the car, so it’s not something which would normally happen). Looks like a BCU fault I guess, but it’s so rare I can’t be NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD- getting somebody to code in a replacement with T4 and all that palaver.

This happened to me the other day, as I was walking towards the car it unlocked, and continued to try to unlock (lights flashing etc) I’m pretty sure it was because the wife had the spare key in the bottom of her handbag with lots of items pressing on it! Grrr

I don't think the key-in-the-pocket theory apples to me, as I only ever use a spare which I had made a couple of years ago, and button's so stiff it practically takes two thumbs to press it when you actually want to

Happens if you press the window key on your door while getting out.

Have done this many times. Or when carrying a lot of things whilst holding the keys in my hand and the button gets pressed. Several times I've come out in the morning to find my car was unlocked all night
