Default 1.8T not starting

on starting my 1.8t this evening the engine cut out after about 30 seconds and now the starter motor turns but the engine refuses to fire up. I've had the orange clip fitted. There is fuel in the tank. Is there anything else it could be?

I can hear the fuel pump priming when the ignition is switched on.

Car had to be recovered back home. It seems from a brief inspection by the recovery man to be a fueling related issue. Have there been any occurrences of the petrol filter clip kit and viton seal failing?

I would lean towards the crank sensor too, and it is an easier and cheaper option; having said that, one of mine turned out to be a break in the wiring from the sensor to the fuse box. good luck.

I've been out to try to start the car and it fired up instantly!

As mentioned above, would this point to a fault in the crankshaft sensor as the most likely cause?

My understanding of a faulty sensor is that the engine cuts out when hot and then they work again when the engine has cooled for a few minutes.

My car had been stood outside on a wet night and wet day so the engine was cold when the fault occurred.

Wow, that's annoying; intermittent faults are a buzzer to trace.
