Default I got a cheap 160 re-map

Right, now I have your attention

Actually the title may be accurate, as I haven't knowingly paid for one.

This car seems a lot, and I mean a lot, more responsive that the last one I had, both are 131 (or is it 135) and both auto.

Even though it was a good few years ago that the mileages were similar I'm wondering if this one has been remapped already.

Am I right in thinking that there is no way of finding out if this is the case, other than having it interrogated by one of our esteemed operators here?

Or would any of you have marked the ECU in some way, or kept records of reg numbers etc.

Ray

If you show your reg number then somebody may recognise it as a former members car Ray. I don't think any of the Gurus keep records of cars done but I could be wrong. Failing that get it on a private road and give it some welly and if it makes you smile then it's been done

It's done that already Tony.

Good point about the reg it is BX04 XHB

I had it from Devon where it had resided for some time but a number of previous services were carried out by the same garage in Pontypool. So it was presumably in the Newport / Pontypool area for quite a while.

Well I can't remember doing any Cimmaron Green Contemporaries, however it may have been done by one of the others

This is actually a whole new market that members with a T4 could exploit.
A remap re-flash for people who have bought a new car and don't know if it has been done or not.
Could be undertaken at a discount just for piece of mind.
I do believe that they can tell though or at least have a rough idea because a normal T4 diagnostic sees the ECU as having an unkown ROM so to speak. Not to say it's a 160 though and this is where this new service could come in of a re-flash

I know all of the tune assembly numbers off by heart Shawn, and if I found a car which had previously been upgraded, I would simply tell the owner, and for that they would be charged not one penny

How about that for peace of mind

By the way, I don't exploit people either

Well it cost me to find out that mine had been done and unless the OP is near you I bet it will cost him.

My car has all the indications of being an ex-members car,gum left on rear window the size of the club sticker, spy hole mod,and gold resistor.
I was told by previous owner it had been done but I had to have it checked.
I'm not naming names because I have no idea where your going with this.
