a revised insurance quote? - that's a heavy modification to be sure and well could affect your decision, what's the chances they will quote well above the normal premium for a 1.8T

parts are out there if you know what you are looking for.
From mild to wild really but like all things tuning, how bigs the wallet.

My crank alone cost more than I paid for the entire car !

Donor car is best way forward you will need keys ecu immobiliser and ancillaries of that also all boost valves engine breathing and I think some of the cooling system
Do-able but a lot of work and unless you have a very special project car not worth the hassle
Oh and you will also need a T4 guru to make your electrics work with new bits

Easier to find a 1.8t witch needs a bit of work and do the work on it would be cheaper

Fuel pump
Engine wiring loom
ECM
Radiator & fan cowling
Water hoses
Intercooler
Airbox and plumbing
Exhaust

To keep things fairly standard, a bit of ZCS coding jiggery pokery is required to let the car know it's a Turbo, and an MG at that.

I can sort this so the original keys and EWS can be used in conjunction with the NNN000500 turbo ECM

Compared to the V8, fitting a 1.8T is a stroll in the park.

To install a Mustang engine it would be easier to list what you don't have to swap over.

thanks all, so now selling my mg and looking for something better haha.

is it possible to get the turbo car to the 300bhp mark or does that require many many mods. lol. i dont mind building forged engines and things like that but if i have to swop every part then its not worth it.

i'm doing that but tbh, it's out of sheer stuborness.

To go to 300bhp range and higher, it's pretty much forged everything and most are one-offs as it's not a commonly tuned engine in the same way an Imprezza or Evo is.
Ballpark, crank £2k, rods £800, pistons £600, big valve head £2k, block and liners £1k, then of course add on flywheel, clutch, big turbo. big injectors, manifold etc and before you know it, that's cost upwards of 8 big ones, which you could easily buy a 2nd hand fettled Evo for that's probably better at putting down the power and more reliable.

Yep, like I said, ain't honestly worth doing it, and I only tune because people say it can't be done. I should of just bought something quick but where's the fun in that. I like the challenge
