ZT-T160 New Exhaust
Well what a day.
Up and over to Leeds early this morning to Tony Banks exhausts. Other members had systems done there and they looked like they knew our cars well. When I booked it in they asked about tailpipes and if i wanted it to follow the bumper curve which was really re-assurring they knew exactly the shape of the ZT bumpers. They specially got in some tailipipes they thought I may like. It took all of about 2 minutes to decide it was exactly what I had in mind, so with that, I left the keys and got pointed in the direction of the local park/lake and informed where the local Maccy D's was to be found. Ended up taking 5 hours to do it. The last hour of which I spent watching them and it showed the attention to detail they had. Measure, bend, measure, bend, check by 3 different people for alignment, then temp weld, then seam weld off the car, and then once back on, 3 people checked it yet again ! Then it came down off the ramps and was taken for a test run straight away to make sure there was no knocking etc. I thought, this sounds rather "fruity" as it dissapeared off down the road. Came back, parked up and literally was all done and off into the office for the painful part,,,,,,paying The work I had done consisted of : Fit right hand tail trim (cutting bumper etc) New flexi and Sports Cat Full stainless system with a Mid-Sport sound. Re-bracket and re-locate the charcoal canister. Dual exit, dual tailpipes that aligned with bumper shape. So the important bit,,,,,,,was it what I had envisioned. Oh yes, and then some Perfect look I wanted. Not boy racer 8" tailpipes I wanted it to look quite a lot like a ZT260 factory. and the sound......oh my ! it's nigh on perfect on the turbo setup. A really low hum off throttle but lovely grumble turning to angry choir when floored especially as boost kicks in. I never expected any performance increase as i've had many systems before and usually I find them only really noticeable when other modifications like cold air filters, boost increases etc are also done and they compliment each other. I was however surprised. I'm not going to say it's "added 50bhp Mr" using Nova maths, but I will say throttle response has significantly changed and for the better. It's a real improvement. So to finish. Tony Banks - one of the best made on car exhaust systems i've ever had and I have had a fair few in the last 20 years. Worth the 150mile round trip - absolutely. Recommended - you better believe it. They took real care of me beforehand, whilst there understanding my wants and then post fitting handover and explaining about any adjustments and warranty etc. So that leaves one thing.........the pics ! Hope you like, and if you don't, bah |

didn't exactly stumble upon the trim.
I got the last one showing on X-Part about 3-4 years ago and it's been sat on garage shelf ever since. My previous ZTT had twin exhaust but I could never find the standard left hand side trim piece, so the r/h 260 one never got fitted. As with everything, all good things to those that wait. I just never thought it would be a different car nearly 4 years later |

Thanks Allm
Love to polish everything up, but I make it my mission to do that as little as possible. Do want to get it machine polished to get rid of light surface scratches, but i'll find a local valeting company for that task. Will leave me more time to do upgrades |
