Something else to factor in is that cars needing a driver will eventually be forced off the road, no matter what they are powered by.

Once self driving vehicles become a reality,, big gains can be made in cutting conjestion - for example travelling almost bumper to bumper at speed on motorways, or doing away with traffic lights and having computers controlling junctions talking directly to the vehicles.

Sadly there will probably come a time when drivers will just get in the way and hold things up.

They'll all be disappearing in London soon when the ULEZ gets extended, including mine.

Lots , I am sure ; but at least the infrastructure for the supply lines was put in place when the refineries were built Then again , maybe digging up our streets for new cables would fix some of the potholes ? It's an ill wind ……
