Tc, I did wire it to the cigar lighter as suggested by Hans but the facelift is permanentely live so had to move it.

I've finally gotten around to fitting my new gauge. I have the simple CD-80 radio/cd player on a facelift Connoisseur 1.8T. The unit has a redundant slot just above it. I'm thinking of locating the gauge on a black fascia panel let into this slot. Here's the setup.
I've had the radio and the climate control unit out of the dash, but I can't find the specified red/white/yellow wire for the I-bus. Neither the radio nor the climate box has such a wire attached. I assume the facelift colour coding is the same as in the Mark 1? If so, then my I-bus doesn't go into the said boxes. However, I notice that kbret earlier pointed out an unused plug in his facelift 75 which appears to have a R/W/Y cable (or does it??): http://www.flickr.com/photos/kbret/3375343741/ Is this what I need and if so, does anyone know where it may be hiding? Many thanks for coming back on this. I now see that the I/K-bus colour code is white&red stripes with a yellow blob every few cms. I have been searching for a triple striped wire, so perhaps I missed it. Will take another shot tomorrow.
