Air bag light - with a difference?
Hello all
I have the dreaded air bag light on my 2004 ZT. I have tried to clean the plugs and connect them back together, it works for about 10 minutes and the lights come back on. I usually have the seat set to the lowest position, however one day I did have it set higher and the light went off. Put it back to the lowest position and it's back on. Is that an issue with the connectors for sure? or would it be maybe the air bag sensors? Thanks in advance

It is generally the connectors, even if you don't move the seat the light can still come back on. Best thing to do is remove the connectors and hard wire and then go from there

sounds like a momentary break in the cable to me....
you can try re routing the wire under the seat or cutting it back as far as possible and replacung it...

I hardwired mine, and the light went out for a year. However, due to laziness/lack of understanding, I didn’t clip the bales up properly, out of the way of the seat components when moving back and forward – and I sometimes have occasion to slide the seat right back, and lie and listen to music – the light came back on again a little while ago, and I eventually realised that the seat movement had worn through the wires, ever so slightly, and was shorting intermittently.
It was virtually impossible to see, think I got divine inspiration or something. I cut the wires back, and soldered them again – light out. And this time they’re out of the way… we learn by our mistakes… So be VERY sure everything’s how it should be. The intermittent break sounds plausible to me.
