Default Flat battery.

Hi,
I wonder if any of you have heard of this before,
On wednesday morning found my car battery flat so charged it all day & it appears to be o.k now,
Today while i was washing car a chap who lives down rd told me that on tuesday night when he walked past it the wipers where going then a neighbour told me the alarm was also going late at night.
Has anyone any ideas.

Thanks Mel

This is your car telling you your battery is just about flat.
It could be that it is not being charged enough, ( Short trips ) or that the battery has reached the end of its useful life.

Hi Mel. Had similar problem when i first got my tourer. The cause was water ingress to the sat nav unit. The nuts securing the sat nav cradle which are located under the fuel filler cap were not tight and a small amount of water ran down into the cradle (I'm talkin a couple of thimble fulls here ) during a heavy downpour and caused the exact symptoms you describe. Took some finding but would never have found the cause without the great people on here.
Regards Mark

If its the original battery with an 04 car it is time it is renewed---6yrs is pretty good
If it will not hold a charge for long, renew BEFORE the cold weather hits us

Default Battery

Have to agree our 75's show some peculiar, often puzzling symptoms, which often turn out to be battery problems. These can easily arise when the cold weather starts.
Was expecting my battery to 'expire' sometime as it is over 7 years old (with never a problem)
Had to call RAC for non starting event but battery appeared to be cranking engine quite normally. Guy put his tester on battery and tried to load it. Message came up 'Danger do not load' New Bosch battery fitted.........end of problem.

Hi,
My battery is only 2 years old so i think it was lack of use that caused it to go flat.(i hope)

Mel. Your alternator will NOT fully charge your battery unless you do some quite long trips. It really does need to be put on a charger for at least overnight. Running a battery half charged will reduce its life by years.
