Default The latest arrival

A few days ago I picked this gem up from the North East. Some of you may seen it but there was a free car advertised recently. The previous owner had contacted the club to offer this car to an enthusiast who will look after it after the owner decided to part ways with it due to another car that he had purchased. He was offered a lowsy sum to part exchange it and thought it would be better served by someone from the club. The car is a diesel tourer with only 87k on the clock and MOTd until November.

I got in contact with Simon from the admin team who kindly forwarded me the contact details of the owner, Kevin. We exchanged a few emails and text messages and spoke in detail over the phone. I then made arrangements to go see the car with a view to collect so I booked my train tickets online to Scarborough from Edinburgh. The tickets only cost me £30 which is an absolute steel. I had to park my diesel at Waverley so all in all, it came to under £50.

I made my way to Edinburgh Waverley Station from Kirkcaldy at 5:45am on Monday. I got my tickets printed and boarded the Cross Country service to London King's Cross. This took me to York where I then got a connecting train to Scarborough. The journey was a pleasant one and quick. I don't remember the last time I went on a long haul journey via train but it was nice. The views of the North East were lovely and the weather was a bonus.

When I got to Scarborough, I was greeted by Kevin and his wife, Lorraine who then drove me the short distance back to their home. I saw the lovelt Tourer parked on the drive way. Wedgwood Blue has always been my favourite colour in the 75 range and it really stood out, as Kevin had just cleaned it the day prior.

I was invited to go over the car which I did but already knew it was a good one thanks to Kevin's honest and detailed description. The service history backed it all up, too. Lots of papers with the car! I decided to take it. Signed the paperwork over a cuppa. Kevin talked about his experience with the car and how it has taken him all over the country and was a good one. I signed the paperwork and made my way home at around noon. Thank you to Kevin and Lorraine for the warm welcome and their generousity in giving this stunning car to me. I can assure you, it will be well looked after. It is a long term replacement for my current diesel.
The to do list has well and truly begun!

The car drove lovely on the way back. It is a Classic spec but has some of the extras on it such as auto wipers, trip computer etc. It drivers very nicely and feels tight. It feels like a low mileage car. It did get some attention on the way up too. It must be the striking colour or the handsome driver.....

I was meant to stop by Brian's on the way up but he was a little bit busy. But, I appreciate the phone call he made to me let me know and I will be down very soon!

Anyway, here are some pictures that Kevin sent me and some I took on the way up.

I will be detailing the progress of this car here in due course.

Again, many thanks to Kevin and Lorraine for the car and thanks to Simondi.

Many thanks.

Ravinder

That would be the colour then.

Congratulations on your new addition, I hope it serves you well for many years to come.

Beautiful car Rav, hopefully picking up a cracker like that softens the blow of the other incident.

Looks like a steal . And by the way it's a classic SE I think . Won't be surprised if you all the loom for heated seats and cruise control.

Thanks for the comments.

Ok, cool. If it has the wiring for cruise, that would be a bonus as I really wish to have this fitted later. I can't do without it!
