Default Why am I such an insurance risk?

This isn't moaning (though it'd be apppropriate!), I genuinely don't understand.

34, 10 years NCD, no points, accidents or other convictions, live in a nice part of Moseley, which is a decent area of Birmingham.

Morethan just quoted me £1479. There are lower quotes, but not by much so far.

I know prices have gone up in recent years, but I don't understand why I get quotes so much higher than other similar people on the forum. Anyone got any idea?

Post Code (lottery) I'm afraid.

We used to live in a Staffordshire village which had a WV post code, next village down had a Staffs Post Code and had cheaper insurance.

Insurance companies wont pass a chance to load up a policy if they can get away with it.

I've just had the same problem, quotes of over £1k.
Through confused.com I got a quote from Octagon insurance that was almost half the price of any others, good luck.

This site has a good guide to getting your premiums dowm. If you follow the process all the way through you will get competitive quotes. It may take an hour, but it seems to work.

Default Insurance

I live in Kings Heath B14 postcode (also in Birmingham about 1 mile from orginial Original post)

2.0l Connoisseur I’m 49, currently with Privilege ... £565 for two drivers (cheaper with wife on policy than not)

Thing to check do you need their extras such as breakdown, guarantee replacement car etc. that they like to offer. Some times cheaper to purchase separately.

My suggestion would be spend some more time on the internet searching various sites there does appear to be some ‘special’ offers about for new customers.

I’m sure come my renewal there will be a price hike! Good luck

Never renew your insurance with the same company as they allways put your renewal up in price. They must think you won't change once they have you .
Also, just seen on the news; if you are unemployed you will pay a lot more for car insurance than someone employed .
Just noticed that if you get protected no claims you will pay a lot more for your premium. So whats the point of getting it ?

What's your job? Because that can make a MASSIVE difference to your premium.
