Default Door handle cable stretch??

Hi guys, I`m "currently between jobs" at the moment so thought i would spend some time on a minor problem that has annoyed me for some time.
My passenger door opens perfectly from inside but from outside the handle is stiff and has to pull nearly all the way to end of travel before the lock unlatches.
Now this isn`t really a problem for me but every time i get a stranger in the car they end up nearly pulling the exterior handle off trying to get in.
I`m guessing that the cable is stretched but before i get involved has anyone any hints or tips/pitfalls as to how difficult it might be??

Thanks in advance

Hi Mark, Joanna has the same problem with MY car, MY car has the "one press " driver door open /auto lock at 5mph active, as i bought it basically. I find it easier to warn passengers to be gentle twice and not a problem . Get my mum in MY car , its a problem.......
my name is also mark

I doubt it's cable stretch. The cable operates the internal pull anyway, which is OK. It sounds to me like a mechanical problem in the external handle linkage. Only a physical examination of the innards will help with this I think. Here's Rimmer's exploded disgram of the mechanism.

Update

http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/k...ver%2075/5.jpg

Now sorted, thanks to Jimbo who yesterday came down and shown me his fab V8 and also went through door card removal and shown me where the offending lock piece was.
Today i managed to get my fingers in and around the plastic piece labelled "B" in the picture above and "unwrap" it from the connecting rod, all that was needed was the plastic piece to be further down the rod for there to be less movement needed to operate the lock with exterior handle.
Hope it all makes sense and once again to jimbo many thanks
