Sorry, I shouldn't have used the emotive sentences - perhaps I should just stick to actual debatable points. As above. Any response to that?

The Chinese were in denial for 2 months by which time it would have spread across the country. In short it did not.
My Father and I were involved in the small pox outbreak in Birmingham in the late seventies. A member of staff died and the head of department committed suicide. We worked at the facility restoring it to to full operation after it had a full and deep clean. I was only 14 helping out but had one hell of an adventure being taken around the medical school by students. The mortuary was the place that stuck in my mind. 30+ bodies being worked on by students and staff training today’s doctors. The smell stays with you.

Think I'll wait for a more reliable source than Trump.

You are thinking of a 'small area of China' being equivalent to a 'small area of the UK'. It's not. A small area of China is the size of the UK - which would fit into china 39 times over. You also assume that the Chinese population has similar mobility to the UK population - it doesn't. Your last assumption was the strength of the lockdown in the affected area. Remember an area the size of the UK locked down so tightly that if rumours are to be believed the infected were welded into their own homes to die.

There were videos on social media that showed many houses being burned down and the fire services had to stand and watch.

When passing judgement, or even speculation, on China it would be sensible to be aware of the difference in freedoms of expression between the two countries. Guilt of a minor indiscretion can have unimaginable consequences there but no more than a 'tut, tut' here.

Didn't see those, but I think it's clear how China has avoided the levels of infection that we see in the West. Not methods that we'd be considering (I should hope).
