A sad site today and a sign of the progress of times. Nothing lasts forever.
On the way to drop off a Rover part to an enthusiast in The Netherlands, I parked near a very faded example of what was once a very familiar sight almost everywhere. A RED ( very faded ) Telephone Kiosk.
Nothing lasts forever. Not even these substantially built to last jobbies... |

Yes sad indeed. Actually made a point a few years ago of letting our then 10 year old son make a call from one as he said he'd never even been in one!
I've have been trying to persuade my wife that I actually need one for the garden... it's being met with the same sort of negative response as when I suggested we need an ex London transport routemaster bus |

We have one just down the road, I'm waiting for it to come available so I can put it in our garden.

The one in our village was saved and restored to it's former glory.
Rather than a telephone inside it now houses a defibrillator. Earlier this month, I attended a training course in the Community Centre on how to operate the device and CPR. At one point, I think that they were thinking of converting these old phone boxes into wi-fi hot spots. It would be a relatively easy thing to do as the cabling is already there. I hope as many as possible can be saved, one way or another. They are British icons, like roast beef and Yorkshire pudding.

All the ones that were local have all been blown to smithereens by the local m0r0ns setting off military grade fireworks in them.

A lot of the old red phone boxes near us are full of books! Folk leave the ones they have read, and can take ones for free, it’s like a small library 👍

The boxes that we have left are working and in use, all the others that have been removed are in peoples gardens used as ornaments. |
