I use them.. only for a few items though.. normally better than queuing for the limited amount of manned checkouts in local asda..

I think it's a generation thing. Two of my kids use them every shop, personally I detest them but I'm an OAP and would rather deal with a person.
Local small ASDA has now only one manned checkout and its never manned. I only pop in for odds and ends but last time it would not accept an item. Along came a young man to help, it wouldn't work for him so he did something and gave the goods to me for free. Next and last item cat food, wouldn't scan so again got foc. He then closed the thing off saying it was broken. I asked why the only proper check out was never in use and he said the queue gets too long !!! |

I HATE them BUT I love the self scanner you walk round Tesco's with, scanning your shopping as you pick it up, fantastic! However, I don't shop anymore, I get Tesco delivery and any bits and pieces required outwith are picked up in the local asda........

PITA! Best to avoid. Ultimately will do away with checkout jobs.

That's because you're always on the road buying 75s...

As the comedian Dave Gorman says, a self service checkout doesn't judge you when you buy a meal for one and a full size Viennetta!

We have a new Lidl’s in Ringwood where I have used both with no issues at all. Items that need to be checked get checked quickly by someone who hovers around the area.
Not had a problem whatever till Type. |

On the odd occasion I go to Tesco I refuse to use them even if asked by a member of staff. They ask me why and I tell them it is doing a person out of a job.

Shop with the walk around scanner or shop from home on-line.
Go to the back of the store and someone comes out and puts your goods in the back of the car for you. This modern world. Get in the car in the garage at home. Drive out and lock the garage door behind you with a press of a button. Go to the store, goods put in car, drive home, open garage door with the button, drive in and unload goods through the connecting door to your house. Never get cold or wet or blown about------------------------and all done in your nightgown or jamas.---- |
