That was probably about the time we had the CCTV contract. It wasn't a happy working environment to say the least!

I used to go up in a cherry picker to run cables along the roof beams, I remember the beams having a good 2" of dust sat on top of them. Don't want to think how much asbestos was in it

BTW
Someone might prove me wrong, but I think that engine you photographed is a Chevy straight 6, same as you would find in a 50's or 60's American pickup truck.

Is that in the fork lift?

Default Thread update.

For anyone that's interested just put the photos back up and also the Ferdo factory history, gathered quite a bit of intel over the years.

I demolished my old one with a sledge hammer & used it for infill for the base for my new garage.

We used to go to a huge car show at RAF Woodford in Southport until they discovered huge quantities of old asbestos buildings just under the turf. They closed it down straightaway.
Think you might be describing RAF Woodvale, north of Formby and south of Southport. Woodford is in Cheshire and was built by AV Roe for aircraft manufacture, it was never an RAF station.
I believe Woodvale is still home to some flying, University Air Squadron and private use.

Cheers Andy, there's quite a bit there and even the insulation for the tanks there covered in the stuff.

Default Been doing some more research

Just collecting more information on the ferodo factory and well.

Things weren't going well finically and Friction dynamics failed too reach there targets, they had quite a few complaints from car manufactures as many company's used Ferodo brakes on top of the range motors such.

Of course they did the Regular testing and it turns out Friction dynamics were cutting conours too make it cheaper and also more ching ching for them selfs.

Because they weren't making much money at all, they Started cutting wages and pensions and that's why there were constant strikes.

The debt owned was around 16 million back then that was damn right expensive.

What ever they were doing they certainly lost the plot completely.
