Default Jacking point rust

I've just noticed some rust on the drivers side rear jacking point on my cowley built 75. I've only had the car a few days and it was only £200 so not overly fussed as the rest of the car is mint and rust free. It looks like the rubber jacking pad has fallen out allowing water in which has rotted it. I've dug out the rust that I can and obviously it will need to be welded but I have no experience of rust so just thought I'd put a picture of the area on here to get thoughts on how bad it is. I've put a torch light through the holes into the sill and there is no rust further up inside which is good. I'm thinking this is something a good body shop can fix

One of my cars had rust that extended further along the sills than that on both sides. Total cost to get it all welded, painted and lacquered was £170.

seems to be a common thing on our cars.. one of the only places they seem to rust. I have welded a few here.. not a hard job at all for someone who can weld.

Infact - I have a friends car to weld in exactly the same place when I get back in the country the week after next.

and to be honest if I was nearby I would do it for you.. but unfortunately I am based quite a few miles away..

My 03 had same problem on drivers side rear jacking point, welder at my local garage cut out the rust, welded new steel in and undersealed it. No longer have a jacking point though. Cost £100 + vat

I have this problem too but it's on the opposite side. Don't know how bad it is though.

Had it on my Cowley car both sides. All sorted for £200, but sadly not your area.

Caught mine before it got too bad Dirt gets trapped in a void behind the arch liner & jacking point, keeping water in & rotting from the inside Make sure you check behind the liners
Treated & later waxoyled & painted
