I’ve no details on it Ian other than seeing it on Facebook and the guy asking what it’s worth. As you state though it’s a V8 and as long as items like front struts, rear subframe, heater valve and rear brake are ok it’d be worth a punt. If any items I’ve mentioned are in need of attention it’ll be a money pit

Thanks Les, the seller does say he has :

New front Bilstein shock absorber,
2 new front shock absorber top strut mountings and bearings.
Both front and rear subframes removed and powder coated
2 new front brake calipers
2 new flexi brake pipes
New front discs and pads

No mention of rear brakes or heat valve, so something for me to check over .... I am tempted I have to say

Welcome any input on this

Rear brake disc is unique to these cars but available from the TwoSixties Or DMGRS. The heater valve under front scuttle where the ECU lives in the FWD cars used to be exclusive to the TwoSixties too but Scott bought a V8 and did a bit of research so there is a cheaper alternative now available from DMGRS. So everything else is done so you’re on to a winner. Get it bought before someone else reads this and buys it

Hi Les many thanks for this, right mind is made up I will ask some questions tomorrow and see where that takes me.
Even if I do get it, and I am sorely tempted, I will still be searching for a Late Rover 75 4.6 V8 Connoisseur SE Tourer ...

No. Badge is the wrong one and there is no vertical panel in the middle of the top grill part. Actual matrix looks a bit different and is black not dark grey by the look of it.

You say it sold for £4.500 in need of TLC and what is it that has caught your eye, re: the wing looks odd 'cos it looks tidy to me ?? ... tell me more …
IIRC that was mentioned in the ad from the seller in Manchester(?) at the time. Photo then was very fuzzy, and I remember asking myself if that was intentional

… and its sprouted headlamp-washer jets since last December's photo (that car, #552, did not have them fitted ex-factory), maybe indicating that the whole bumper has been replaced ??? Not a problem in itself though, if it's been done well, and there is no sign of damage in that area. Hope that V8 badge is only stuck on so that you can whip it off pronto !

Cheers David, great information, this is what I really enjoy about this forum, people know stuff
Re the badge itself appears to be Rover, whether it is the right one for a premium grill i am not sure. Definitely as you say there is no vertical panel in the middle of the top grill part, which is why it may well be MGR, but I am ok with that
Many thanks for the heads up on the lamp washers, something else to look at.
Genuine thanks, Take care Ian

Pity. I was looking at using my redundancy on something special. Even a project would be nice.

Hi David, I must confess 'twas me, took a punt and bagged it, soon to be on my drive.

Close inspection the car has been very well looked after. The guy seems pretty genuine, is a mechanic and knows his stuff, and I am by no means easily fooled.

He has had a lot of work done since purchase, some one before his time had stolen the chrome bezel !! He found a replacement but it was a poor copy from china and did not fit, huge gap all round, found an MGR replacement but has got the wrong badge on, I am on the hunt for a proper badge. No question he has put a fair amount of dosh into this car.

To be fair, the body work is absolutely spot on, bodywork very straight. The previous owner had one of those disabled steering knobs and knacked the trim on the steering wheel, other than that it is very tidy, very tidy indeed.
Sounds lovely drives awesome
