Nothing dangerous in my post as far as I can see.
If you think my opinions are dangerous then ignore them. Danger is from the prescribing of a dangerous medicine such as a Statin. The fact that 'the system's pays GPs to put them on statins is the same thing as being paid to put people on statins although not directly into their account it is still undue influence. If the pharmaceutical companies have influence - and they do- then that is a conflict of interest and NOT in the patients interest.

BTW any member who deems my views/opinions as dangerous please ignore them.
Mine are my own. Do as I do - make up your own mind! I only commented on this thread as I wish no harm to anyone - GPs dont know everything and big pharma do not have your best interests at heart. All these best, Lee

I was recently chatting to a member here who is diabetic, he is on tablets for it, as well as statins. His belief is that the tablets allow him to eat what ever he wants all sweet and naughty nice things. He realises if he carries on like this, he may well have to go onto Insulin. The main thing for him is, that as long as he can eat and drink what ever he likes, this is what really matters, the medication including the statins, allows him to achieve this.
When I worked in the out patients dept in the NHS, the drug reps used to try and bribe me with free gifts and free lunches, tickets to the theatre, desperate to get an appointment with a consultant in out patients. I used to wonder what would have they offered a consultant to get a patient on a drug trial. I only found out once, a friend who is a consultant said the drug rep took him to local restaurant in London. I can't say what she offered him, as we are a family forum. The stakes in the pharmacy industry are certainly high, but then the drug companies spend billions going into research and launching new products. On a personal note, I have been on statins for 20+years. I am currently on the most expensive 3rd generation statin on the market, as it has fewer side-effects than the cheaper ones and the bonus is, that it keeps my cholesterol in the low margin. |

Perhaps she just fancied the consultant anyway.

I'll probably keep taking them for now. The fact I have just consumed a rather nice Morrisons "The Best" fruited scone with cornish butter on probably doesn't help though
