Default +12v in the boot for sub

Hi guys,

Since I'm doing some stuff to the car I decided to prepare some wiring for the future audio. I already made some wires for the reverse camera (taking the 12v from the reverse light), and I'm gonna pull some wires through the car tomorrow for the audio.

But the amplifier needs a 12v connection.
Any tips?

Is there already a switched 12v in the boot that I can use to power the amplifier? Do I need to pull a new wire from the front to the back? Can I ground the sub at the grounding point in the boot? (just next to the cd changer) or do you recommend connecting straight to the battery?
Any advise is always welcome.

Usually an amp has a +12v and a remote wire for +12v switched, I hook the +12v to the battery direct with inline fuse and the switched +12v to the switched power on the back of the stereo, a lot of modern stereo's have a remote wire on them usually it's blue.

Thanks Mischief. I know how to connect and install it. I'm just not sure what the best option would be to power the amp.
Connecting it directly to the batt, or try to find a 12v wire somewhere in the boot and steal some voltage from that wire.

Often enough you can just connect the - (ground) somewhere in the boot. Most say it's recommended to keep the ground as short as possible.
There is a gathering spot for several grounds in the boot, next to the cd changer. But I don't want my amp to upset any other electronics. So I'm wondering if it will have any negative effects if I connect the ground from the amp to the spot in the boot.

I used the 50Amp wire behind the glove box that the tow bar electrics are wired from then grounded it next to the sat nav in the boot.

Can you expand on that 50amp tow bar wire?
I don't have a towbar and I'm not planning on installing one. Does this wire run all the way down to the boot? What color? How can I check if I have it?

Yes if you remove the glove box, look to the left of the cavity there is a 3 way connector behind the passenger fuse panel with a Orange/Slate, Light Green/Pink & Green cables.

Orange/Slate is the main power feed.

Do you happen to know if this wire runs all the way to the boot? It'll safe me having to pull a new wire all the way through the car...

I just got the vibe kit from Halfords and fused it there and ran the live and amp switch wire to the boot.

You really really really want to run a new cable from the battery.

Like really really.

Apologies I read the first post wrong

I was told that an amp draws a lot of power so was best to go direct from the battery, but as persuer has posted you could use the towbar wire should be thick enough.
