Glad your enjoying the car, take a tip , Do the plenums YESTERDAY, not just the upper ones in the photo ( that look blocked!) but the all important lower ones. Do them now PLEASE. if not it could be the end of the ECU and your pride and joy.

In the picture of your upper plenum you can just see the plastic grill, remove the grill, you dont need any tools to do it and shine a torch into the deep chamber below, if there is any water at the bottom then your lower plenums require immediate attention

Wat a stupid shape this is.
This is asking for getting blocked. And it was. Despite of the expensive maintenance session at the real rover garage. |

That is just the upper one, how are you doing with the lower ones?

I must be stupid. Cannot find the lower ones. When looking in the big hole, with the brake amplifier, I only see debrie on the bottom. ( this is the left side of my car )
The quest for the plenums will continue ! |

On your model the main plenum drain will be on the drivers side. You will need to pop out the lower plastic push clips along the base of the windscreen on the drivers side (4 of, be careful they have a tendancy to fly off in any direction. Remove the plastic grid at the base of the wind screen under the bonnet and this reveals a solid plastic piece with a single plastic screw in, remove this screw. Lift up the plastic trim where you have remved the 4 clips and pull the solid plastic shelf out to the side of the car ( its a bit fiddly ) You will then be able to see the ecu, directly below the ECU there is a lower plenum drain

I start to understand. I was looking at the 4 clip part. But this is actually the part where the window wipers emerge from. Therefore it is not possible to remove it easilly. But that is not nessesary then.
This is on the right side, and not on the left side. The driver is on the left side, and the wiper motor, brake amplifier also. So the plenum should be on the right side then. I think the pollen filter is also on the right side (passenger side) I will try to find some time tomorrow again to search for them. An other note. Those upper plenums felt sticky and brittle. I think they are rubber, and on their way to dissolve or fall apart. |
