From memory there is a small triangular plastic piece you just have to loosen and bend/remove, and it's just above that. The symptoms are very much like the leaks from the rear lights in the sedan. Runs along the boot floor and runs down under the rear seat and into the rear foot wells plus the mandatory pool around the spare wheel.

all how to's should include that bit, thats obviously why the glovebox piece pops off...backlog caused by end of the hose clogging! |

Steve, there may be some confusion between the contents of this thread and the actual 'how-to'.
The how-to itself doesn't cover the duckbill trimming as far as I can see. There is a reference to it in Fig 15: "Twist and push this slowly untill it goes right through past the ducks bill flap behind the bulk head and into the wheel arch later on i will show how its best to cut of this ducks bill." But it doesn't actually go on to cover it 'later on' - unless it's in a separate how-to. The pics that do cover it are in this thread (post 141 above) so I can understand Frankie (gritbox) not spotting it in the 20+ pages. But he got there in the end and, like most of us, he probably wouldn't have without your great pics. |

Hi Ken & Frank.
Yes sorry you both are correct, I added later on in the thread and I doubt everyone reads all the thread therefore I have attached it as link to the main part and throughout several parts. Two weeks ago I did the modification to the rear sunroof drains and seeing there was heavy rain due today I taped up securely the sunroof in preparation for doing the front drains this weekend but have noticed tonight that even after drying out the rear offside carpets water is still getting in any advice where else the water is coming in from?

Rear light seals. Leaks to the floor of the boot, runs along the edge(s) of the boot, under the rear seat and into the rear foot well. Not to speak of the spare wheel well!
Does not apply to the tourers! Symptoms exactly as for rear sun roof drains, except look for damp under the lights. |

If in doubt, spread some talcum powder around the rear lights - water will be evident as it'll leave a trail where the powder has been washed away.
Just don't let a police officer look in the boot while this test is underway - all that white powder could look a bit suspicious.
