i phone 4s 16gb on vodafone

Hello all
This is my sons excellent condition black iphone 4s with front and back screen protectors , current fitted ones have despicable me minions in the edges of the protector.These can be replaced with plain protecters It also comes with a 1 month old leather effect flip case.
The phone is on the vodafone network, we do not know if it is locked to there network or not.
I havent taken and pictures of the phone , yet i can if required. Just looks like any other good condition 4s.

I really do not know how to check if the phone works on other networks.

If it's on vodafone it's unlikely to be unlocked, I'm on the same network. IIRC the only unlocked iPhones are the ones purchased directly from Apple

Apple ones are unlocked....the other operators are locked to their own networks, but can be unlocked but only they can do it. The way they are locked is really clever....it's done by Apple on the "white server".....it works like this......

O2 buy a phone from Apple and apple locks it to O2. Everytime you connect to iTunes, the white server checks the lock is still on and valid. If you ask O2 to unlock it (end of contract) they send a request to Apple and they update the server. Next time it connects the lock is removed and the phone is free to all networks (as Apple ones are)

If you go through, an unofficial route, they can unlock it, but the first time it connects, the server sees that it's not locked and re applies the lock....
