Giving up the evil weed
I am currently in the process of giving up smoking,I am now on day 7.
Has anyone any experiences or tips on how they got on if they did it. I am currently going through the mangle at the moment

That was the only motivation I needed. The only help I've been using are Nicorette Cools lozenges, they're OK and take the edge off the cravings, and I've found they're the least horrible tasting. Good luck with it w44nty, it's not easy despite what some people think. It's definitely worth it in the end

It was the breaking of the routine I found hardest along with finding your hands fidgeting without a fag in between the digits !
I found the actual craving had pretty much subsided after a fortnight and then it was just a case of doing something else when I normally reached for a puff! I'll let you use your own imagination on that one Steve It's been about fifteen years now for me and I don't miss being ruled by the nicotine that's for sure. You'll be fine and it gets easier as you gradually stop those routines and the nicotine is no longer in your system

I can sympathise with you as it took 50 yes and many attempts before I found the answer for me I went to gp and he put me on a drug called Champix which is a 12 week course and if successful a second course should be prescribed I have to say that it was really effective and I haven't had a cigarette or the desire for one in over 8 years now and my wallet approves too

It's very hard to quit, I've gone through it twice in my life, I stopped for 13 years then out of the blue I started again I'm not going through quitting ever again. I've not had a fag in over 6 years now. You've got to be really determined in your mind & take it one day at a time at first.
I used to have a boiled sweet when I wanted a ciggy to take my mind off it. the money you save is astronomical & I bought myself a few nice goodies (guitar & a camera) as a reward. I remember going into the shop to buy some tobacco after they put tobacco up in the budget & I said there & then NO WAY am I paying that & I loved a ciggy. that was the incentive that started it for me the second time around. Not to mention the health side of things, I've never felt better in years. I hope you can keep at it & give them the boot like I did.

nip to your nearest book shop and buy alan carrs the easy way to stop smoking.and remember you are not giving up anything. look at as treating yourself.the phrase giving up in itself implies denying a pleasure.its is not. its drug addiction the only reason folks smoke is to get to the drug nicotine.the stress you are going thro is caused by the nicotine itself thats how it works.it will pass
