Default Another ABS thread!.... More Abs woes....

My speedo has stopped working and my ABS light is on.... its an MG ZT diesel......

I've replaced the ABS sensor on the drivers side this morning, twice, with two new ones I had in the attic, this was after freezing outside drilling out the old one which refused to give in to me!

The original problem seemed to be damage to the cable, because I twisted it about where the outer sheath had been worn through, and the ABS light went off..

But neither of the new cables seems to be working.... any suggestions

Thanks & regards
Phil

if you drilled it out you may have drilled too deep and damaged the bearing

Thanks, but pretty sure I didn't go to deep as I removed the 'sensor' end intact when pulling out the remains of the unit with pliers..... any way I would know for sure?

I'm not the most informed on these matters, but my ABS suddenly became faulty on the front nearside. I traced as you a faulty outside wiring.

Unlike you I couldn't drill mine out and had to get a secondhand hub fitted as even the garage couldn't get it out.

What they did find though was that just beyond the plug that vanished into the engine bay there had been a short and the wires had fused.

A replacement plug cut and shut and new ABS sensor from a well known auction site resolved it all. Light now out and my cruise control is working again

Highly unlikely. To do that you have to drill through the outer race, as I see it.
Even if the OP was not be the smartest tool in the shed, he would have to be rather stupid to do that.

Default More Abs woes....

Back in February I had problems with my ABS light, eventually I had a garage replace the drivers front wheel bearing & cable ( at least I think they replaced the wheel bearing!), all OK until a couple of weeks ago...
My speedo started to work intermittently, then my ABS light came on again.
Now I have no speedo, a permanent ABS light and am miffed!
I replaced the ABS cable today, but the light has not gone out and the speedo is still dead... and unlike the last time, I extracted the old lead without damaging it and having to drill out the remains! so no chance of damaging the bearing ......any suggestions on what I might check?
Advice appreciated as always..... thanks ( MG ZT CDTi )
