Depends on the paint, you're not supposed to use a compound on a metallic paint pre lacquer. I've just given my switch panels a light rub under water, I'll lacquer them later after I've been to Dunc's. Leave 9:45 or thereabouts, no point leaving earlier, Edinburgh bypass is a nightmare in the morning . . . . and in the evening for that matter.
