Fabrique en Chine ??????

My new "Bosch" fridge (which weighed about half of that of my old "equivalent" model) was made in China. The drawers are so flimsy that they distort when you put stuff in them. My kids would have destroyed them by now, looking for ice creams, back in the day, when they lived at home!

My dishwasher is 19 years old (The mechanical one, the human one is much older) this dishwasher is a Bosch Classix model and has failed me once, I stripped it two years ago and gave it a full service and a new sensor, it's been just fine since. I'm dreading buying new replacements as I'm aware of how the quality of items like these have deteriorated in recent years.
You're dead right about to-days' quality but a lot of it is down to the increase of enhanced electrical abilities.

My first washing machine was a twin-tub with about three settings. My next was a Hotpoint in about 1988. That particular model (NLA now) was delivered with the door to be fitted by the buyer as it had the ability to be either left or right opening. Intelligence based on Full or half load and about six temp settings.

90% of front loading washing machines will only open to the left. Most tumble dryers I've looked at the door only opens to the right. Go figure?

To know where they source the "on hold music" watch the Yorkshire Tea advert for the answer.

Marketing Hotpoint in UK and Europe is owned by Whirlpool, in USA it is Haier

I am along term customer of Whirpool with full satisfaction and support, Whirlpool bought Philips appliances and I stayed with them.

I also have Whirlpool appliances and I'm pleased with them. They've been working for years without issues. The same thing I can say about LG, though. I faced a problem with my fridge only once due to a voltage drop. However, I was lucky to address reliable parts customer service and order the needed parts.
