Default Bonnet Not Closing.

Hi Guys, I have a bit of a problem. I can open the bonnet OK, however it will not fully close as it appears that the receptors on the slam panel are stopping it doing so. If I then access the divider block (which is a pain) and push the divider forward I can then close the bonnet.

I have already done the divider box mod and it is well greased.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Steve

sounds like you need to grease the catches on the slam panel itself. Jules has a how to on how to get in to ease them a little but to do the job properly its a bumper and slam panel off job
Here you go for a temp possible fix, 2nd half of the post

I have just had a look at Jule's thread and have a quick question. If I slacken the bolts say 5-6 turns will that be enough and exactly where do I spray the grease, is it directly down the hole?

quarter to half a turn on the bolts, no more and you can see the can of lube Jules uses in the post I linked to, along the shaft of the screwdriver that is there to compress the foam to allow access to the catch, it is to lube the cables as they enter the slam panel catch. I little along the edge of the holes that receive the pegs will do no harm.

You could also try winding down the rubber bump stops a smidgeon.

The main reason for the bonnet not closing is the half moons on the slam panel sticking, so, as said, undo the bolts either side of the catch a quarter turn.
