Default Rear upper suspension arm replacement - East Mids.

Hello.

Had an MOT fail of

Suspension arm corroded and seriously weakened Offside Rear Upper.

I asked the MOT place for a price to fix but he didn't want to touch it. Doesn't really know rovers.

Car is CDTI tourer

Is there anyone not too far from Melton Mowbray who would have a look at it?
Regular garage rates.

Give me a shout.

Ta

Sorry I am probably too far from you but for piece of mind.
As long as the bolts at each end of the arm come out and are not seized it is not a difficult job. Were there any advisories for stuff in the same area ( I'm thinking suspension), if there were consider getting these done at the same time.

Just a word of warning, these jobs can snow ball

good luck

They were probably put off in case the captive nut on the subframe starts spinning, if it does it can be welded to hold it still in place to allow the through bolt to be removed.

Hi.

There were a couple of advisories for the lower front bush's Macafee.

I'd like them changed too (but then I'd like the whole lot removing, cleaning up, painting, new bush's & pins . . .snowball, as you say)

Thanks for the tip Mick,
I'm sure you're correct about them being put off by that kind of thing.
Hence looking for someone with a bit more 75/ZT-fu

I would have a crack at it myself (excellent info from this site) as a summer job outside on the drive, but right now I'd prefer to drive it into someones workshop and leave them to it.

Did someone compile a national list of 75/ZT specialists (or did I dream it - quite possible) ?

Cheers

Just a follow up for anyone in the region . . .

I discovered that Brownings Suzuki in Melton Mowbray used to be a MG Rover dealership and at least one mechanic there dates back to Rover days.

They charged £120 to replace one arm supplied by myself.

I didn't get a reply from https://mgroverrepair.co.uk/location.html online enquiry form.
