Cd Changer

I need a new CD changer for my 2001 CDT club. It's the 6 disc model that links to the Harmony head unit.

I have spotted this one 170114418376 on Ebay. It is described as

" 6 CD Autochanger.

Will Fit Land Rover Freelander, Discovery 2 and Defender.

(which have A C42 Headunit fitted as Shown in Picture).

Comes Complete With Wiring And Fittings"

Can anyone tell ,me if this would be OK for my car please?

Alternatively I can get an Alpine model XQE105560 (albeit at a higher cost...)

Don't really know which way top go so would appreciate expert guidance. As always grateful for your help.

The Alpine unit you quoted should just plug and play as its the OEM unit with the frame for mounting in the glove box and uses a 10 way square connector from the head unit (loom still available from Rimmer Bros or Xpart). There used to be a loom for mounting it in the boot but I do not believe this is still available, so you would have to make your own up if you wanted this.

Unfortunately, I can't see the photograph of the Landie type changer so don't know what type of connectors it uses. It should work, although an adaptor may/ will be needed. You may have to speak to an auto electrician or ICE specialist, or one of the more knowledgeable members will be along.

Personally, if the Alpine unit is not much more expensive, I would go that way for least hassle. I bought my Alpine unit and wiring loom from Ebay and fitting it was quite straightforward. There is a "how to" on here somewhere. Unsure what arrangement you currently have, but you may already have the loom with the CD changer extension. Drop the panel under the glove box if there, you will see the CD cable hanging down. If you are going to fit the changer, the glove box should be removed for ease, although I think you could probably manage without. The cutouts in the glovebox base to pass the securing screws and cable through are already there.

The Land Rover unit doesn't work out of the box (and the seller knows that ;( )
