Default Alpine iDA-X001 Digital Media Receiver

This one makes me seriously consider abandoning my RoverMac project. Single DIN head unit, nice little display plugs in to the iPod directly via USB. The price tag of $US 450 isn't too bad either.

Due out in february - meaning may, i assume

And it looks as if it can illuminate in red as well:

Now I need to get a steering wheel remote adapter as well. Incartec 29-620 seem to be a safe bet but I have yet to find either a reseller in Sweden or a UK one that will ship to Sweden.

The other route is the geuine Alpine way but there I can only almost find what I need. The base unit in question is the KCE-870B which has all the logic but then one needs a harness. There is one for the 75, KWE-895E but that has the BMW connector at the end which I then probably could butcher and adapt into an ISO setup. Or, I assume the Freelander/Rover 600/800/25/etc KWE-872E works for the 75 as well. Anyone who as any experience with these?

More specifically: Anyone who knows which other cars SW remotes uses the same resistance values for the same functions as the 75/ZT?

If you can find an on-line UK supplier for your steering wheel control interface. and you have a PAYPAL account, I don't mind buying it and shipping it out to you if the supplier will not do so directly for you.

I'll definitely take that offer up if everything else fails. My best local option right now seems to be Autoleads parts but iirc you had some issues with those.

Yes - quite simply, the Autoleads interface didn't work.

I got the Incartec one and it works perfectly with my Alpine

It looks like the HU has IR controls. Would this be of any help:

Erik

I'd very much appreciate your opinion of the Alpine IDA-X001 head unit.

As you know, earlier this year I fitted the CDE-9850ri Head Unit to my car specifically for IPOD compatibility.

I am pleased with it overall but the IDA-X001 looks very much better in terms of it's ability to control the IPOD and also of the mp3 tag display.

I am very tempted to change but would like to hear your impressions first please.

Damnit - I couldn't wait

With the additional bluetooth unit, it'll make a good handsfree as well.

So now I'm stuck with a 3 month old CDE-9850RI if anybody wants one

I'd still like to know what you think of the IDA-X001 please Erik.

I will be more than happy to provide an in-depth review complete with photos once I have it installed.
