Default Engine wont turn over?

Hi
Went to start my Rover 75 1.8 petrol this morning, turned the key the dash lights up but nothing else. No clicks or half turns. I've checked the battery and its fully charged. Has anyone experienced this or got any suggestions as to where to start looking?
Thanks in advance.

What we would do decades ago - as a first check - is to check for a rusty earth connection - usually the bolt into the car body - the battery to the body and body to the earth strap. Or a broken or damaged earth strap so an earth is not getting to the engine block and starter motor.

Years ago the quick trick to check for a rusty earth connection was a single jump lead from the earth on the battery to the engine block. I dont know if that works or is safe on a Rover 75.

Default Problem sorted!

Problem sorted, i removed the started motor connections and cleaned them up and it started immediately. Simple solution, too busy looking for more complicated solutions. Lesson learned, look for the obvious. Thanks for the replies and ideas.

Solenoid repair kits used to be available as the non-start is usually a precursor to that. The dirty connections will not have helped the situation though.
