So Hans did set it up to self test the beeper. I think that's important. Since the gizmo beeps an overheat warning (in case you're watching where you're driving rather than admiring the display), you need to be sure it actually works.
I'll live with that. Excellent!

Default Cigar lighter and beep on startup.

Oops,
My cigar lighter is not on permanent feed.
If you think the beep at start up is annoying , let me know.
I can remove it from the software or make it a shorter duration.
Thanks for your feedback.

Yes Hans did , only 10-15 sec's or so , loud enough to be noticable but wont have people holding their ears saying what on earths that noise. Sounds quite good having safety audio going off when ignition switched on .

I think a 3 second beep would be optimal. Anything longer will become annoying and some people may want to disarm it.

Mind you i've not timed it so may be shorter. Doesn't seem an annoying length, but suppose it will come down to personal preference.

The unit is working fine at the moment, the only thing I would change is the length of time the alarm sounds when the ignition is turned on 2-3 seconds would be enough (6 seconds on mine).

I ordered mine on Sunday,Hans built and posted it on Monday and it arrived yesterday (Thursday) not bad going.

Exactly how is the display held in place on the plastic front panel? Is it just glued in with something like superglue?

Also, how about putting the display in the middle of the long thin walnut panel just above the cup holder? Is there any reason why not?
