Default Serpents Tyre Sizes

Good morning,
I'm considering buying a set of Serpent alloy wheels which have 245 45 R17 Y tyres fitted. I understand the usual tyre size is 225 45 R17 would the wider tyres cause a problem?
Thanks David

I think the recommended width for 17" tyres is 215 or 225. These recommendations vary by date of car manufacture, but either is fine I think.

I think most people fit 225s - usually because they're the more common tyre and are cheaper and easier to source.

245 sounds a bit wide, but maybe there are people who use these. Hopefully, they will shout up.

I imagine the main concern would be whether the tyre would catch on the body work?
I would be interested to know the width of the tyres recommended for 18" wheels and also the size of tyres used on the Rover V8s? Anyone know?

The tyre size for all 18 inch wheels for the 75/ZT is 225/45/18.

For serpents it's 225/45/17 on earlier models, and I think some of the late ones were fitted with 215/50/17s.

I personally like the look of 225/50/17s on Serpents especially on mkii's, fills out the arches better as for some reason serpents always look too small to me on mkii models.

245/45/17's should be fine I recon. I ran 245/45/18's on my ZT and 245/35/19s when I had some audi RS6 rep wheels on my tourer with no problems.

ZT260 tyre size recommendation is the same as any other ZT 18" wheel, 225/45/18.

All sorted now.
