help please?????
Hi All,
Hope all is well. So my 2 problems due to very scarce funds this has had to wait a long time. I had an over-heating problem and found that the fan motor was completely beyond repair. But that's not the problem. the fan I had was the brush type and good fortune at my local yard had a complete fan with the gold resistor for the bargain price of £18.00 (no this is not a mistake) bargain of the year....so I need to ask do I need to change any of the wires for this to work or should it be plug and play? My second problem is that unfortunately I allowed someone else to remove the engine mount and other brackets ect to allow a water pump replacement as mine was shot in the overheating. Anyway they thought they would be helpful and also remove the timing/cam belt (the long toothed one at the front) unfortunately they did not have the cam locking tools and now I need to set the timing without the help of said tools. Can anyone give me a diagram of the timing mark settings. from what i have read this might be a problem but it must have a setup mark surely. Pleeease help. I have an idea of the setup but would like confirmation thanks

This will give you the gist on the timing. Avoid rotating anything if the belt is off.

The timing should be set with the engine in safe mode.
See Haynes if you don't know what that is. At that position, the rear sprockets have markings that must be in line. That is as simple as it is.! The engine can be moved, if not already in that position. Take the spark plugs out, and remove the timing covers. Make sure that no valves are on open, as any piston approaches top. Do all this by hand. No electric starter!! |

Kaiser that's what I hoped but had to make sure. all the short belts were not taken off so on that advice should it spring round past the marks, is this the reason that you should used the correct locking tools?, so its more about that there is tension at the timing marks or do I have another problem?

Fan
The 2 speed fan is a direct plug in replacement for the older 3 speed type.
( they are both brush type but the 2 speed spreads the low speed load across more brushes which prevents premature wear). Make sure that you strap the leads securely so that they cannot rub on the matrix behind them. |
