Ac clicking noise
Hi all,
New to the forum today, I've decided to take the plunge. I've been on a few things to fix the common problems etc. However I think my condenser and cooling fan have gone from what I've read on forum. It's a clicking noise when ac is on but no noise off. Could anyone advise on problems as I'll be fixing myself and parts needed. As ABS fault at present which as can do a clicking noise I've been told which I'll resolve once fix ac problem Many thanks Sam |

Hello Sam and
Quote:
The radiator/condenser cooling fan blades are attached to the motor spindle using a bayonet fitting. If the blades are loose, that would cause a noise. The other possibility, common on diesels, is disintegration of the crankshaft pulley. This also causes a noise when the air conditioning compressor is engaged due to the heavy load applied. Simon

I don't think they can be checked without removing the front bumper. The condenser radiator is also an easy job to change but does look daunting. macafee2 |

To check whether it's the fan blades or the crankshaft pulley, simply run a trinary switch test described by Jules here: https://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/for...ad.php?t=35567
A diesel doesn't need the engine running during the test. If you still hear clicking then it's the fan, if not it's something else. TC |
