Thank you for the TOAF link, I just wish my IT skills would be as good as my mechanical skills.... I will try to start with a cable and a LapTop and see how far I get.

Hi still no luck starting the car, is there anyone in the Beckenham Kent area with a full diagnostic tester, or who can test my new cam sensor.

Thanks Tony

You have already renewed the camshaft position sensor more than once without success so do you really think that is the cause? I and others have suggested that you check continuity between the sensor connector and the ECM. Do you think that you could use a multimeter?

The other possibility is that whatever third party diagnostic equipment you're using is giving an incorrect result. Chris in Portsmouth has a T4 and isn't averse to travelling.

Is this a mistake Tony? P0340 refers to the camshaft sensor not crankshaft. Secondly, are you buying genuine MGR branded parts or aftermarket for this critical application?

Hi thanks, has taken me a while but found out I need to test pin 19 ECU cable to sensor, I will be doing this very soon.

Had to take battery out to charge it. I am sure the sensors are genuine but rimmer bro seem to have sent me a used crank sensor for some reason. I purchased it to see if it was the problem.

Thanks
Tony.

I have just checked continuity between the sensor connector and the ECM.
Pin 19 & 82 both fine.

OK, and is the sensor receiving a 12v supply (ignition on) on the yellow/green wire?

Your loom connector at the camshaft end should be as follows (according to RAVE):

Pin 1: yellow/green = 12v supply
Pin 2: blue/green = sensor output (Hall Effect signal)
Pin 3: black/slate = earth screen

Have you got an adaptor lead between the new sensor and the car's original loom which might explain the red wire?
