Been Developing a bit of a limp
Over the last couple of weeks had a bit of pain in a Big toe, very local ust at one place, getting worse gradually, and now slightest touch and ouch!!!
Been to the quack, had an Xray, had a blood test, and waiting results . Ideas are Infection ( blood test) Ingrowng toe nail ( Xray) or Gout!! .. Thought that was for peeps who like a bit of a drink?. C

Sounds like gout, I had same symptoms many years back and I'm virtually tea total.
Cause is to much Uric Acid in the blood, this becomes so high that it precipitates out as crystals in the joints and the foot is the main area, like sugar coming out of solution in a cold cup of tea. It can also affect other joints. I was told by my GP eating fish, red meats, and offal, i.e. burgers etc, can be the main cause and this is where the rich mans port drinker sufferer came from. Only the rich could afford the meat and fish and the drink was less an issue. Now its affordable more suffer with modest incomes. A tablet is usually prescribed to ease it but first this usually makes it worse. Then a long term use of Allopurinol is taken to keep it at bay if you get more attacks. I've been on this for years, when I'm taken off it, it comes back eventually so now as a precaution its a for life tablet. Hope that helps. Bob. |

Can be absolute agony and the slightest pressure sets it off. The acid crystals attack the joint and inflame it so much. Worst I got was in my knee, it started one afternoon in work, luckily in the office and not on a building site. I could not stand at all and any pressure from bending was excruciating. Was off work with that for weeks.

I have developed a limp in my right foot after being on my feet all day, but that is due to an injury sustained almost 30 years ago, aggravated again by another one 11 years ago, now it’s coming back to haunt me. I recently had an infection in my left foot, I had a bad case of athlete’s foot, and wa scratching so much my skin went raw in between two toes. One had a blister on and was very red, this redness then spread to the rest of my foot which swelled up. Went to doc and got a course of a/b, now thankfully healed up, but still get pain in my right heel after being no; my feet all day.
