Default 15” Comets tyre sizes?

I have a spare set of Comets without tyres on
I was contemplating putting some winter tyres on them as back up
I don’t know the sizes though.
The books refers to 6j x15 and 6.5j x15
Which show 195s or 205s does anyone know which the comets are?
Thanks

Hi Neil,

Referring to my 2004 brochure which applies to your facelift car, the 15 inch Comet wheel was supplied with 195/65 tyres.

I hope this helps with your decision.

Simon

It depends on which book you read. The early Handbook (1999) and the last one (2004) indicate different things.

Does that suggest the widths are variable on the
comets. So I can fit 195 or a 205.
I'm still not clear.

Part of Project Drive was the change of tyre size - from 13th July 2001, VIN 214656, 75s originally fitted with 205/65/15 tyres, fitted with 195/65/15s.

I have a set a Comets with my tourer.

Been out and scrubbed off 18 years of brake dust and found this:

So, Comets are 6.5J X 15 and ET50.

You can fit either 195/65x15 or 205/65x15 tyres to wheels this size. But, teaching granny to suck eggs, they all must be the same.

I had 205/65x15 on my first Rover 75 - a gorgeous Copperleaf saloon - and it road beautifully. It was just so comfortable on a long journey.

Hope that helps.

Thanks all, for helping clear that up.
Seems the 205s are a bit dearer than the 195s
So far Asda seems a good bet for the winter tyres.
Now need to find out if I have to check the tracking every time I swap from 16d to 15s and back which would make it costly.
