Looking great.

Any chance of a parts list for your intercooler build? Mine has a hole in it

What do you need Tom?
I never took really notes of what pipes I used.
Can probably put a pretty good list together if it would help ?

cheers

Cheers Geraint.

I'm currently trying to source a new OE replacement, they are listed at £73 so not to bad, IF I can get hold of one.

If it doesn't work out it would be good to have a bit of a shopping list for the intercooler, pipework and connectors etc Also did you get the ends beaded/flared etc?

The boot floor looks ace, you going to fit a protection panel?

Cheers,
Tom.

Edit to update - the only UK stock near Bristol and they won't post, so if you could give an idea on what to buy that would be great!

there are two pieces of acrylic in there, the top one is scratch resistant but i'll be making a cover for use when the car is for shopping etc

The main component was an intercooler kit which I sourced in the states so there is a time delay in getting that over as I couldn't find one in the UK.

The ends on that are flared etc as are the other pipes. The kit came with 12 pipes iirc (4 straight, 4x90 degree and 4x45degree). I then suplemented that with some additional as required that I already had or ordered from ASH.
Same with the silicone. Had a fair amount here in garage already but topped up as required from ASH,but I had the luxury of not needing the car on the road so ordered as required, waited a couple of days, fitted, then found needed the next bit.

I would have to draw up a diagram of what I did, but let me know if that's needed as it would take me a bit of time and if you go another route then it's a waste when I have so many other jobs calling my name atm

cheers
G

Hi G.

I've had another look through your photos and think I can work something out. Quite a few kits available on evilBay, but I just don't know what consitutes good quality or not.

I see your pipework runs behind the cooler, is there a reason you avoided the 'inlet and outlet' on the same end type?

Your car is PRT and mine isn't, so there will be differences in cooling pipework and hence space. Also theres no way I am confident drilling a chassis leg like you have, I'd mess that up for sure. I'm happy to bin the airbox, but the battery needs to stay put

I think my best bet is to strip the rad etc off and have a good measure up. I've ordered the new coolant hoses from ASH and there is plenty of flexibility for changing things there.

Don't suppose you kept your original cooler, and if so is it in good nic?

didn't end up going through the chassis leg so that wouldn't need to be done. I need to just plate over it (not everything works first time, lol).

I couldn't get an IC that had end tanks same end without it being too small in overall size and there is front panel behind so one feed comes in much higher which you have more flexibility with inlet/outlet on opposite ends.

Don't forget I had to also sort out power steering pipework to get mine in. Probably could get standard to remain put with some jiggery pokery but mine ended up being binned off for oil cooler in o/s front wing/bumper area.

Non PRT probably easier to pipework up tbh. Bit of a faff to get OE and aftermarket stuff to marry up nicely as you are stuck a little with some of the OE pipes due to the intricate curves whereas aftermarket is usually 30,45,60,90 degree options etc.....

I never kept my old IC otherwise you could of had it.

heres the same kit as i bought as a starter for 10

Thanks G.

Don't suppose you could show me what oil cooler you used?

Wish you were more local so I could have another nosey!

Thanks again for your help.

I used a small Mocal one, think it was 10 row.
Bought from ebay, but think it came from Demon Tweeks.

Some oil/fuel hose, some aeroquippe fittings (1/2" BSP - again iirc) and jobs a good un.
Only issue is of course, cost mounts up so it's not a cheap replacement alternative. I just view things like this as chance to do upgrades but you need a forgiving mrs OR a secret bank account

Indeed.

Looking at £400 odd for all the required bits, it really does add up. Its now or never though!!

ETA - think I've found a suitable intercooler.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2007913911...84.m1438.l2649 - IC5004 with 2.5" outlets

Priced up all the pipework from ASH, just need an air filter and an oil cooler and I'm good to go. Then its making it all fit, and inevitably spending more money on bits

Did you NEED to move the battery or can you still get a silicone elbow on? Think its a 70mm to 63mm reducing elbow required, is that right?

Thanks again!

PS sorry for the thread hijack!!
