Default Help required with front seats

I have a few questions regarding front seats.

Are the foam pads for the seat and back the same for electric memory and manual?

Apart from the cut outs in the seat cover for the electric switches, are the seat covers interchangeable between electric memory and manual?

I have the seat in bits and the foam parts in my hand.
If I test and get continuity across the wires going to the heating elements does that mean the elements are working or am I testing the thermostat?

If one thermostat or element are broken (seat or back) will the other element heat?

My electric memory drivers seat is not heating. Not knowing if it is the thermostat or element I know I need to check but I'm worried I'll ruin my seat due to being ham fisted. If the element is faulty, I have the spares to change the complete foam pad and element if my continuity test above, means the element is good.

I've got a set of seats indoors so have just taken a peek.

The foams are the same for both manual and electric.

There are two wires which go to the heater elements (yellow and orange/white) and with both elements ok, there should be about 2 Ohms across the pins. I thought the elements were in series, but having disconnected the back rest and tested on its own then this was approx. 4 Ohm. so they must be connected in parallel.

so if you've got 2 Ohm then everything is working ok, anything else then something is amiss. I think the thermostat would be in series with the elements.
