Autoglass
Just a heads up:
I'm in need of some glass replacement in my wifes Hyundai and approached Autoglass. It now seems that they insist on full payment before sending out the fitter to do the work. Doesn't seem right to me (maybe I'm old fasioned) so I've cancelled and will be using an independent local provider instead. Cliff

My Insurance company insisted I use Autoglass for a new screen in my van last year. The following day it rained and I had water dripping off the mirror. I called them and they sent an engineer who squeezed some goo in the top. No more leaks for a few months probably because it didn't rain much.
3 months later it rained heavily and the drip from the mirror returned, I rang them again and it was now out of warranty apparently. I took it to a local independent, he removed the screen and found there was hardly any sealant along the top edge and he reckoned I was lucky the screen was still in the van. He took pictures that I forwarded to my insurance company. He Charged me £40. My insurance company refunded me eventually. I won't be using Autoglass again. The local fitter reckoned Autoglass had used a Chinese screen and my excess probably covered the cost of the screen and the fitting. This is probably why insurance companies are so keen for us to use them. |
