Cool Mike Yarwood RIP

Comedian Mike Yarwood, whose TV impressions made him a household name, has died aged 82.
Yarwood was one of the biggest TV stars of the 1970s with hit BBC shows.
He was famous for his impressions of former prime ministers Harold Wilson and Ted Heath, as well as the then Prince Charles.
BBC director general Tim Davie described Yarwood as "simply one of the greats" and "one of Britain's most loved performers".

Loved his Brian Clough impression

24 million people watched his Christmas day 1977 show.

RIP Mike.

Never been a better impressionist since, and even if there was, they would be foul-mouthed.

Yeah, but the powers to be never seemed to be in it for the long haul for some. never made the effort to retain them.

Prompted me to google and I came across a pic of Mike at his care home with a guy whose face looked familiar but I could not immediately put a name to. Another quick google identified the guy as Richard O'Sullivan who I remember mainly for his regular TV appearances in the 70s. I was quite surprised to read that he had been in care for 20 years after suffering a stroke at 59. Fate is a fickle friend of fame and fortune.

Didn't know that about Richard O'Sullivan. Only the wicked, it seems, stay healthy with a long life span.
