Default Connector C0580

Hello,

Can anyone please help me understand something about a discrepancy between Rave and my car when it comes to electrical schema.

First of all, I have a pre-facelift Rover 75 with manual gearbox, no autodimming mirror fitted.

Looking at the pre-facelift Rave electrical diagram for the rear view mirror (I'm thinking about fitting it without running a cable to the boot), I can see, that the 2 wires finally ends on the passenger fusebox:

-reversing (white/yellow) ends into connector C0580-3
-live feed (green/red) into C0580-49

This connector C0580 is at the back of the passenger fusebox (difficult to mistake since they are all labelled there).

Now whereas I was expecting to find in my car such coloured wired ending into the C0580 as per rave, I found 2 thick brown wires.

Can someone bring some light on this?

Thank you

From memory C0580 is the big pink connector........

Not sure why you want to run a cable to the boot for the auto dip mirror.

If the wires aren't at the bas of the drivers A pillar (most aren't) then run the wiring from the mirror down the passenger A pillar and connect it straight to the vacant cavities in the fuse box.

I've done a couple this way, and it's the easiest way to do it.

According to rave, it's a 3 pin black connector and connector names are embossed onto the palstic of the fusebox.

That's exactly what I'm planning to do but which cavities ?

You are correct, 580 is the black connector, the ADM uses the Pink connector for the live feed and the connector next to it (purple ?) for the reverse feed.

I think the White / Yellow should be an empty and is cavity 8

The feed to the reversing lights will be in place, so you need to pick up the green/ brown.

Ok, so let's recap before I go to the car:
-the adm does not actually use the 580 connector (is Rave wrong?)
-live feed on pink connector
-reverse on pin 8 of the blue connector (next to pink). I think there are already white/yellow wires there (a thick and thin one) can I connect onto one of those ?
-ground wherever

sounds about right, but I'd need to physically stick my head in the fuse box to be 100% correct.

My wiring diagram shows connector 589 used, not 580.

Are you looking at the right connector? my copy of the wiring diagram also shows the White/Yellow in pin 8 of connector 589 - the Purple one, but only in cars fitted with the rain sensor.

Ok,

There is a mistake in the prefacelift rave. as it states C580 and it can't be.
I checked the facelift rave and it states C589.

I'll check my fusebox tomorrow morning and will let you know but the latest is likely to be correct.

Yours must be a early copy as mine is dated 2002 and it shows the White/Yellow it in connector 589, so it looks like they corrected long before the facelift was introduced.

Ok, I think I have a BMW mirror, provided by Les. The colour of the wires in the mirror are red, brown and grey. Here is how I connected it:

-red into C0589, pin 4 (where already sits a green/brown wire)
-grey into C589, pin 8 (where already sits a yellow/white wire)
-brown into C589, pin 9 (where already sits a yellow/white wire)

As it is now, it doesn't seem to be working. Did I do correctly? How can I test (I was not fully sure how to test)?

Any help appreciated.

Thank you.
