Default Diesel not fully reving

Hi everybody,

I recently swopped the engine and Auto gearbox in my Diesel KT from one out of a Rover 75 retaining the ECU from the KT. It now wont fully rev, coughs and spits and when cruising at around 70 is fine until it's asked for a little extra puff and again coughs and splutters until knocked out of cruise and throttle eased off. Starts and runs fine below about 2,500 revs.
I've put it into a Diesel specialist; not a MG specialist, who recons his computers should talk to the ECU but could make no contact. Read ABS, gearbox etc but not ECU. The consensus of opinion is that there is a trapped or broken wire.
Any ideas please
David

Brown & Gammons are round the corner from you and they have a T4 to analyse the problem. https://www.ukmgparts.com/
