On both types you have eath and + batt and the "loop" is connected on
pin 1 (6 pin connector)
I guess for factory tests?

I'm sure that someone's come across my problem before, but at present we're stumped.

We've used this excellent guide to overhaul 3 units now... But theres a strange issue with our latest unit (a complete retro fit). We get fuel up, unit kicks up, but doesn't fire. Did understand how the piece in the right up with the bulb should work? If you bridge a bulb across the top should it light and unit kick up? Or, does it light if glow plug ok, and that would indicate PCB fault?

Any help/advice gladly received.

Regards,

Michael T

You connect the bulb in parallel, so it should light when the glow pin is active - however I believe the real reason is to reduce the resistance the ECU sees (because you've now added another path for the current) so that it thinks ignition has taken place.

If the bulb isn't lighting then either the output stage for the glow pin is bad or the conditions haven't been met for it to be switched on yet (e.g. fan or pumps failed self-test).

Hi in the link above from mike if you read the description of the repair kit it says the kit is for heaters manufactured from 2004 and if you have an earlier heater you need to buy a complete burner assembly .How relevant this is i do not know but thought i would point it out anyway.

Of course ,before i put my nose in that beast , Webasto already said when the PCB is faulty buy the whole burner...

Glow plug is likely correct but ask Harry for seals compatibility ..

that`s why i questioned the relevancy of my post as i suspest the glow pin in the kit you posted mike will probably work but until someone tries it we will not know for certain.
