Smile Low Mileage and Rising Prices

A couple of things :-
1 - spotted this 30K miles car on EBay for £500. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2003-ROVE...IAAOSwulpc7RHm
If I had room I would likely have a go at this one. Can anyone save it?

2 - Is it my imagination or are the prices of our cars on the UP. Scanned EBay and there are few in the low 100's ( as were a while back , quite a lot in the £1500 - 2000 , and a number £3000 - £5000 .

Any observations.

I too have noticed an upward trend In Classic Car Weekly , the classified ads typically have our cars valued at £1500 - £2000 . These all appear to be decent condition examples of course ; a banger is a banger whatever the model !

'RESERVE NOT MET' so who knows what figure the seller has in mind or what they'll accept

My recently acquired (see pic below) Rover 75 CDTi tourer auto Connie SE with 56,000 miles and almost immaculate paintwork set me back £3450 from a dealer.
Although it came with a new ‘faultless’ mot,,The brakes were NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-, the rear light had issues and it has Chinese Mazzini tyres all round which will be gone soon enough but it just had to be bought.
It is like driving a new car now and it’s 160 remap has made it a lovely car to own and drive.

Decent tyres will cost you more than the car!

I've noticed that tyre prices have increased a lot in the last 2ish years.

True! The seller says he paid over 2k for it a year ago, it will be at least 1500 I would have thought.

Don’t know where you get tyres then as I have no probs getting tyres at a reasonable price!
I have a set of 18” 11 spokes going on the car and a set of Avon’s ZZ7 will be £400 fitted. Not at all a bad cost as they will last 30,000 miles.

My apologies - I read your car cost as £350 as opposed to £3450.

Must try a different optician next time.

Prices do appear to be rising. I bought my car last year, 65K miles for just under £2000. It was in good nick but had a few problems. I reckon if I bought it a year or 2 before it would have been a bit cheaper, as I'd been watching 75's for quite a while. I know someone who just bought an '04 tourer with 75K miles for £1750 the other month too which hopefully means I didn't overpay on mine... They're still bargains in my opinion.

Ha ha! What you like!!! £350!! Just sold my 19 year old R75 v6 for that to a club member!!
Everyone knows a Connie SE Tourer CDTi Auto is the top combo and as such pulls the most sheckles! To find one on Autotrader with top paintwork, low miles and a mint engine adds to the tab.
With tyres there’s no contest, safety will always cost and I always go for Avon’s as they are fairly priced and best of all, British!!
£80-£100 is my window for tyres and ‘ditch finders’ are not generally in this bracket.
