So long, and thanks for all the fish
Well it doesn't look like I'll be seeing my car on the road again.
Went into the garage for relatively minor works, springs etc, of which they haven't done most of, choosing to the bare minimum instead. Then the battery ran flat and the bonnet cables snapped while waiting to get it tested 3 weeks on I've spent a few hours yesterday and today trying to get the bonnet open using the How To but to no avail, it's stretched so much on the NS that its come off the clasp. I'm really frustrated now, already cancelled going to Donnington last weekend, now I'm without a car for my break to the Lake District on Friday |

"Don`t panic! Wear a towel", Douglas Adams Go to church do some pray and go back to the garage. Same things happened to me - sorted them out.

"Hells Bells" .... Marvin the Paranoid Android...
Sorry to read your post .... any members local to you who can offer help and encouragement? If you can't open the bonnet it's going to be a problem changing the battery .... can you bump start it, run the engine and hopefully get some life into it? Good luck John

Are you selling, scrapping or just not going to have your car for a while?
Can a hack saw blade pass under the bonnet to get to the shaft of the part bolted to the bonnet? may be someone else has a suggestion macafee2 |

I wish lol It's still at the garage, you'd have thought they'd have some kind of idea what to do It's what happens I suppose when you've no choice but to leave it with them because I've been working so far away for weeks on end |

had exactly that on the 1.8 last week , but went up though the Wheel arch panel pushed hard and twisted to get the washer filler neck out of the way and then dragged out the cables , but nothing would shift until I used pliers to pull the cables . and bingo.. then did all the mods ;-) includng my clippy thing

Good news, I'm in!!!!!
Dare say I'm a dab hand at it now lol. I did indeed have to use a saw blade to cut the pin as there was no cable attached to the latch mechanism, just the lead pin left inside it! Removing the bumper and o/s headlamp to replace the cables was a nice surprise Now finally it can be tested on Monday |
